AR Paisley's "BACKDOOR" Reminds Us It's Okay To Take A Break From Toronto

There’s something weird about the fact that we’re so heavily inspired by the people that come from the city that we’re from. At least for me, I didn’t really have a choice in being born and raised as a sauga baby, but still I keep the city close to my heart. In retrospect, it’s because of how proud I am to be who I am, and I know that where I’m from plays a large role in that.

That being said, this same city helped mold a lot of incredibly inspiring and motivational people. Everyone in Mississauga knows PND is from here, but I don’t know how many people who listen to him know that. A big part of the reason that we wanted to create the earliest version of FRAGMENT RADIO was because we wanted to shed light on our local creatives. Of course, it’s inevitably gonna be creatives from all over that we feel like we need to shed light on, but for the most part, it has always been about and for Mississauga.

AR Paisley, who we’ve discussed on the podcast and in these blog posts before, is one of the artists who’s passed the threshold of local talent, and has made a name for himself worldwide, even though we all think there’s room for him to grow.

AR makes the music that I’m happy to hear. We spend so much time listening to people rap about shit that we don’t care about or relate to just because it sounds good, but hearing someone from the same city as me talk about things that we both care about is dope.

His latest single, “BACKDOOR”, is a full testament to that. He repeats on the hook over and over how much he cares for his team, and how they’ve been together forever. He also talks about how he doesn’t care to spread hate, and honestly just a bunch of other shit that I care about LOL. AR Paisley is one of my favourite artists, and I’m sure a lot of that has to do with where he’s from, but it also has a lot do with the messages that he spreads through his music.

Check out “BACKDOOR” on all streaming platforms now and stay tuned for the music video which should be linked once it goes live.
